Explorers Club: Mar 26: Explore Milwaukee Film

See some of the great movies coming out of Milwaukee and meet the great film makers behind them.

still1
The films will be presented with a 10 minute intermission halfway through and a talk afterwards with all of the film makers.

The Jeffrey Dahmer Files

with Dir. Chris Thompson, Actor Andrew Swant
In 1991 Jeffrey Dahmer was arrested in Milwaukee and sentenced to 957 years in prison for killing 17 people and dismembering their bodies. ‘Jeff’ explores the city of Milwaukee by meeting those surrounding Dahmer during and after his hidden spree. Recollections from Milwaukee Medical Examiner Jeffrey Jentzen, Police Detective Patrick Kennedy, and neighbor Pamela Bass are interwoven with archival footage and everyday scenes from Dahmer’s life, working collectively to disassemble the facade of an ordinary man leading an ordinary existence.

Studies in Space

with Dir. Tate Bunker
A dance film shot in ultra slow motion exploring movement, dance & space. To see in movement what the naked eye cannot.
Spec2

Spectacle

with Dir. Kurt Raether, Wes Tank, & Erik Ljung
Spectacle! is one film in six genres, directed by six Milwaukee filmmakers. The genre-adoring film follows the fates of bumbling busboy Tilt, and debutant Ladybird Isabelle, as they struggle to escape a film world crafted by the dastardly Hugh Tinsley, billionaire scientist.

So I Could Fly Away

with Dir. Blyth Meier
A man reminisces about a childhood filled with loss, longing and song amid the farmland of North Dakota.

Works in progress: Last of the Lawsonomists

with Dir. Ryan Sarnowski
We will be presenting some materials from one of the more exciting films being worked on right now in Milwaukee.  Last of the Lawsonomists follows Merle Hayden, the last crusading member of Lawsonomy, a group founded by aviation pioneer and philosopher Alfred Lawson that was dedicated to economic and social justice for all at the expense of none.
